In the field

I sat in on an interview with this man and his family. He, his wife, and his daughter are all HIV positive. The four year old son had not yet been tested. There seems to be a trend of parents not having their children tested which I don't understand. The tests are free and easily accessible.

This girl is 14 years old. She lost both of her parents to HIV. She is also HIV positive.

Last week I went out in to the field to watch interviews be conducted with the participants of the SCC. The participants included HIV positive families, HIV orphans and neighbors. Neighbors are interviewed to assess the amount of discrimination that people living with HIV (PLH) encounter. It was a really interesting day and I felt that I learned a lot from the experience. It was also profoundly sad. Afterwards, Mr. Sothea took me out to lunch where he made me try the infamous cheese fish. I won't be eating that again!
