The temples of Phnom Sampeau are recently new and were funded by Khmers who live overseas. I think they look most beautiful from afar (above photo). Near the temples is the Killing Cave of Phnom Sampeau which is where thousands of Cambodians were bludgeoned to death by the Khmer Rouge and pushed over the edge of the cave. A large buddha now reclines at the bottom of the cave. Walking down the steps to the cave gave me the chills.
